last saturday was the Portland Highland games at Mt. Hood Community College - and yes, i was there! no, i am not Scottish at all, not even a drop, but i wanted to be Scottish badly that day because i felt kinda left out with all the cool things that the Scots get to do and get to buy, like family tartans and crests and the like. oh, and they have clans! how come we don't have clans?! shoot. it was great to get a little bit of a taste of Scotland - bagpipes, kilts, meat pie, the Mcsomethings, etc. etc. etc.
we did a little bit of exploration, us asian people.
tartans! apparently each clan has its own distinctive pattern. how cool is that?!
i think hg wants a wee kilt for the baby =] or maybe for herself? hmmm.
those bagpipes are friggin' expensive.
hehehe.
heed the warning!
rofl. doug found this at one of the booths and said, "that is so messed up!"
get it? animal orgy in a bag. ;p
they even had cool wooden swords! oh and foam ones too.
oh, and real ones too of course. they're prepared, in case you get a wee cut.
WHAAAT!!! harry potter wands?! COOOOOOOL! haha.
those Scots are brutal!
these reminded me of Lord of the Rings.
more weaponry
they're so light on their feet.
berries and cream come to mind.
doesn't sound or look too appetizing, but it was really good. yummy steak and mushroom meat pie =D oh, and a lemonade. i should've gotten some ale!
arrrggg! they had all kinds of interesting... merchandise
hahaha. that is a $5 whip. i can't tell if he's scared or happy. you be the judge! hahaha. jk kuya pj =]
we saw a lot of weapons that day...
i think they just discovered america. either that, or the south just lost.
no pants allowed! it's all about the kilts laddies!
i don't know if this was used in the Scottish highlands. more like, star wars. but it was still cool.
we watched some traditional heavyweight competitions...
caber toss. he got it to stand upright, and he rejoices. the crowd goes wild!!!
weight for distance & weight for height.
there was a parade...
i never heard so much bagpipes in my life!
i wish the meat pie was bigger. i wish gerard butler was there. or at least sean connery.
the end.
